Award-winning hockey player Bill Watson was referred to Northwestern Mutual Financial Network over ten years ago. Bill won the Hobey Baker award in 1981, and then advanced to the NHL as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks. He then got involved in coaching and scouting for both amateur and professional hockey. When approached about a career in the financial services industry, Bill put it on hold for a few years, but couldn’t stop thinking about the opportunity he had available.
“Freedom first and foremost attracted me to a career with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. The opportunities I would have to impact the lives of the clients I would meet, and also my friends and family, was the biggest reason I chose this career.”
“As a career changer, I took a leap of faith and trusted my instincts. I was fortunate to have extensive training through Northwestern Mutual Financial Network and Columns Resource Group. With all of the guidance I have received, I know that I am in the business for myself, but not by myself.”
As a Financial Representative, Bill most enjoys the ability to dictate his own schedule without having to answer to anyone but himself. He is able to spend a great deal of time with his family and also remain an active member of the community.
"Looking at friends from college and other peers, I have more freedom than they could ever imagine having. I also have an income that is limitless compared to where they are in their careers. Best of all, I have made the majority of them my clients.” “Knowing what I know now, I often wonder why I didn’t come to Northwestern Mutual Financial Network sooner. There is no question in my mind that I made the right decision.”
