Joel Seleskie first discovered Northwestern Mutual Financial Network as a college student. He had a keen interest in the financial services field, but never dreamed it could provide such a rewarding career. “I was attracted to Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, and specifically Columns Resource Group, because of the accolades their internship program had received. Northwestern Mutual was one of the top-ranked internships in the country.”
After being accepted to the internship program, Joel quickly became aware of what life as a Financial Representative entailed. “You learn the ins and outs of the career, and get an up-close view of what a Financial Representative does on a daily basis.”
“As an intern, I had the unique opportunity to sit down with different professionals every day and learn about their businesses and respective careers. As a student, I was exposed to many other careers available, as well as the financial services industry.” “After completing the internship program, I took the opportunity to explore many of the other options I had learned about during my internship, but in the end, my heart was with Columns Resource Group.” Joel made the decision to become a full-time Financial Representative after completing his internship program. Completion of the program gave him a jump-start on his career. He was able to begin his career with existing clients and skills in place. “I have an impact on the lives of people I meet with every day. I sit down with them and talk about the most important things in their lives. It’s rewarding to help them create a path toward their goals, financial and otherwise. I don’t know of another career where you can affect so many lives and still maintain enduring relationships with the people you meet every day.” “In my career with Northwestern Mutual, I am surrounded by motivated people who are big-thinkers. They are achievement–oriented and strive for success in all aspects of their lives.” Interested in an internship with career potential?
